Prof. Michael Negnevitsky

Michael Negnevitsky received the B.S.E.E. (Hons) and Ph.D. degrees from Belarusian National Technical University, Minsk, Belarus in 1978 and 1983, respectively. From 1978 to 1980 he worked at the Electrical Maintenance, Construction and Commissioning Company in Minsk, Belarus as an electrical engineer. From 1980 to 1983 Michael was a full-time PhD student. From 1984 to 1991, he worked as Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Byelorussian University of Technology, Minsk. After his arrival in Australia, Michael was with Monash University, Melbourne. In 1993, he joined the University of Tasmania as Lecture in Electrical Power Engineering. In January 1996, he was promoted to Senior Lecturer, and in March 2002 to Associate Professor. In 2006, he was appointed Professor, Chair in Power Engineering and Computational Intelligence, and Director of the Centre for Renewable Energy and Power Systems.
